Gonna Get Shag-ed

Yes, I know.

I'm moving tomorrow morning (another 5 a.m.-er for me, so much for the weekend) and I'm getting ready to go out as I write.

My pal C. is hosting tonight's Friday at Shag, which used to be the infamous Concorde prior to the nightlife make-over. I almost thought of bailing like an old woman (next Thursday's my birthday, making me old yo!) but I decided to suck it up and do some circulating tonight.

It'll only be a cameo, though. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

I'm Lovin' it: Wonton soup from Kung Pao Kitty at Wilcox and Hollywood. Flavorful broth, tons of veggies, lots of shrimp. Let's just hope there really isn't any kitty in the kung pao chicken -- or the wonton soup.

I'm Over it: Shakira, Shakira. I'm listening to "Hips Don't Lie" on VH1 and am thisclose to getting sick. Just not a fan really.

Track of the Day: "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. This weirdly moniker-ed duo is comprised of DJ Danger Mouse and...get this...Cee Lo. The track is awesome though, and apparently taking British airwaves by storm. Can't wait till the album drops May 9th here in the States. Once again, birthdays's next Thursday, y'all. www.myspace.com/gnarlsbarkley

Work Out Plan

To celebrate my impending move to the westside (and by far the best side), me and my girls A. and E. decided to work out our buns of steel on the treacherous Santa Monica stairs. A nose bleed-inducing 100 steps high, I managed to squeak out 8 times up and down before calling it quits.

And before you all start laughing out loud, 8 rotations took seriously 40 minutes to do.

Anyway, I made two observations about the Santa Monica stairs: really good-looking people sweat it out hardcore on them (yes, I'm talking 'bout you, Mr. Red & White Nike Shox Guy) and I really really really have to invest in some Stella McCartney for Adidas workout gear.

Comfy, chic, and wicks away all moisture? I'm sold. Those wretched steps may not be the stairway to heaven, but Stella McCartney will certainly bring me that much closer.

I'm Lovin' it: Long, printed sleeveless sundresses over flared dark denim and heels. This girl who owns and operates the showroom next to our office with her (super cute) husband totally had this style down last Friday. I think I have a girl crush on her just because of that outfit.

I'm Over it: Packing! I have to stop being such a hoarder. Half my room is going in the garbage.

Track of the Day: "Where Do I Begin" remix by Shirley Bassey. Gotta love the old classics with new twists.

Ring Around the Rosey

I was flipping through my friend's new Cosmopolitan magazine and, of course, being a summer issue there were loads and loads of hot swimsuits.

But it wasn't the swimsuits that piqued my interest. It was the fantabulous Adia Kibur ring worn by one of the models. Plain, white, huge 'n' chunky, and totally mod -- I must own it before the summer gets into full swing. The bargain price of $10 ain't too shabby, either.

www.adiakibur.com

It's not an engagement ring, that's for dang sure, but it'll do for now.

Note: You might have to flip through the May '06 Cosmopolitan to find a picture of the ring, you can't see it on the website! Sorry, kids.

I'm Lovin' it: Grown-up Sunday dinners with friends. Good food, good wine, good friends. And apparently MySpace stalking is the new Yahtzee.

I'm Over it: Living on the eastside. This girl is westward bound now! As of May 1st.

Track of the Day: "Hang On" by James Katz. It's such great whiny, emo-indie stuff. I love it.

Here Comes The Sun

The days are getting longer.

This means that Los Angeles UV rays are searing my cornea for an extra hour.

Which means I must buy these Ralph Lauren Leather Aviators immediately.

www.polo.com

I'm Lovin' it: Arbonne PhytoProlief Natural Balancing Cream. This cream -- which is completely organic -- regulates your feminine hormones, without the added poundage bestowed upon us by birth control pills. It doesn't prevent pregnancy however (duh!), so no stupid stuff like "I hate condoms" in the bedroom.

I'm Over it: Work. I'm out.

Guilty Track of the Day: "Beep" by The Pussycat Dolls. Um yeah, these girls (who can dance and "sing" -- except for head cheerleader Nicole Scherzinger) make the rest of us regular chicas look positively heinous.

Peek A Boo

I've noticed a lot of cute shoes out there, waiting to be bought and worn this current spring (and coming summer) season.

I've also noticed that a lot of them follow the cut-out trend, which I suppose is fantastic for ventilating your hot feet as well as looking pretty.

At the moment, I'm coveting this Kovette pair:

Super cute, no? It has cut-outs, gold grommets, wood heels, and scalloped edges -- very vintage-y. You almost half expect them to pull them out of dear granny's closet.

A fashion-forward granny, that is.

I'm Lovin' it: Thai massages. Going to Thai Town to get one tonight (that was seriously thisclose to being a tongue twister) with L, my awesomely funny hairdresser. It'll be my first time, so technically I can't be already lovin' it, but my sixth sense tells my I will be in about 6 hours.

I'm Over it: Paris Hilton is such a hater. Read the new Elle Magazine to hear her bash ex-BFF Nicole Richie and call her jealous. Hmmmm...I think that's calling the kettle black, Paris dear.

Track of the Day: "U Got ME AD Vocal Mix" by Artful Dodger. I'm obsessed and have probably played it twenty times since I've been at work. Yepers. Work hard, play hard. Just not today. www.myspace.com/artfuldodgerdave

Playboy Bunny

Fake tans and fake chests abounded at the Playboy party at Privilege on Friday night.

My friend T., a freelance event producer, had the hook-up for the event -- which was pretty much everything I expected it to be. Was nice breezing right in past the pushing crowd, that's for damn sure! Privilege used to be the old Shelter, and I must admit, has a very sexy atmosphere. Black and white printed wallpaper, dark red lighting, red booths...a very gothic, sensual appeal. The bartenders were friendly (can you believe it?), the beverages were stiff, and the rockin' DJ kept me on the dance floor most of the night.

No Hugh Hefner & harem sightings, but I did see a rather ambiguous (read: tranny-looking) girl wearing the world's shortest pleated white mini and worst braided extensions ever. It barely covered her business, if you know what I mean. Vulgar!

Ah, but crass and vulgarity are things you come to expect with anything having to do with Playboy bunnies. Thank for the good times, T.!

I'm Lovin' it: Skinny jeans. I never thought I would even think of purchasing a pair, but I'm thinking dark indigo ones would be fanabulous with flats or wedges. ShopBop has a great collection for you to peruse. I'm partial to the Paige Denims! www.shopbop.com

I'm Over it: Shakira. Is anyone else annoyed with her growl-y voice? Sorry Shak-fans, I'm just not one of you.

Track of the Day: "First Love" by Goapele. This is one Bay-based artist who has just as much soul as Miz A. Keys -- with a little less street. Not only is she gorgeous (German/South African mix), she has some serious cred with great artists like Talib Kweli and Stevie Wonder. Her newest album "Change it All" has just dropped in stores. Get it, y'all.
