But you can now visit me on my new Tumblr account.

It's still a work in progress, but it was definitely time for me to shed my old Blogspot skin and grow into a new Tumblr one, where options are more a-plenty. Guess I'm all growns up now. So update your "Favorites" tabs and RSS feeds, everyone!

And if there are moments when you miss the old days, I'll still keep Confessions of a Fashion Fanatic around on the web.

Even for a Haute Hippie like me, some things are just too hard to let go.

Besos for real this time,
Haute Hippie (aka. It's Dior Couture SS '11.There were a lot of big, big, big shoulders and tons of volume at the Spring '11 Christian Dior couture show in Paris.

As most couture (and John Galliano) is, the theatrics were plenty—and so were the pieces to covet.

I particularly liked this caped cropped jacket, which was tres chic with the complementary gloves, gradient color and skinny skirt.

Go, Galliano.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX-SxoD_m9jy2J9ul8sb4TDgBrNRholixc3ELUrMghCFY6wHggyighRTblJWaa8sxFE1DniIWSIgolu9knQa9RA1rbUOD2Ve1qc2nhq_C3Ri7b5qGTWLsCJRbw-y_PKwbEOckb/s320/Christian+Dior+Spring+2011+Couture.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565989714842903090" />

I'm Lovin' it: The Coveted. So I talk about this Breakbot track quite a bit.

But it was the one song last year that just made me happy all the time.

This evening, while doing my Sunday evening web reads and video clip watching, I came across a young fellow on YouTube named cruzo67.

He appears to do quite a few piano covers, mostly of artists you don't normally associate with piano covers, like the aforementioned Breakbot, along with other Ed Banger artists, Duck Sauce, Deadmau5, Ratatat, Cypress Hill, The Bloody Beetroots, Daft Punk and more.

Obviously the boy is a master with the ear, as in listening to music and being able to translate it to the keys—it's not like Deadmau5 and Ed Banger sell sheet music of their electro tracks.

Check out his piano version of 'Baby I'm Yours':

And here's the original again:

Need to learn to play this!

Guess my mom knew the pain I felt suffering through Royal Convservatory piano classes in my childhood would pay off some day.

Here's one more for the road. His classic piano take of Daft Punk's 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger':

Haute Hippiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16371676204711513721noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15937142.post-3682442323131847772011-01-21T14:42:00.000-08:002011-01-25T16:21:42.203-08:00Happy Friday! Breakbots and Brightsides.Last night, I was somehow "coerced" into making a pit stop for one drink at one of the city's most notorious wateringholes.

This place always has a line up, always has the smell of stale beer in the decades old carpet and always has a live band and DJ trading off between classics and Top 40, with some random awesome tracks tossed in. You're always loathe to go here, but when you leave, you can't believe how much fun you just had.

One libation turned into a few, which turned into a mini dance party. For two of us anyway, near the bar and not anywhere near the dance floor.

Here's a small cross section of the last few songs—some of my very faves, too!—that played (and that him and I sang out loud to, with no shame):

We were about to call it a night, when the strains of the song below came on. So, naturally, we stayed for one more epic sing-a-long:

And that was only Thursday night.

On that note, Happy Friday!

Besos,
Haute HippieHaute Hippiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16371676204711513721noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15937142.post-14858601839038604052011-01-20T13:12:00.000-08:002011-01-20T13:19:20.404-08:00Beginnings."We are new every day".

Yes.

Yes, we are.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 198px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt-Dc31DykOm5b5V9UlXRlUzhnBy4qhyphenhyphenXqWxfdasZ7aP9cvTHfTRnelz9DvnfZ7ZMRqe76nMB1qQ_MpRa0RwH3LWo3FVvOMbWhaw3qY5FTEMj2X94-8d8EeFJGMf9fZn5hYqhf/s320/day+sixty-four.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564379378793161186" />Haute Hippiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16371676204711513721noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15937142.post-54508798255335320382011-01-20T12:20:00.000-08:002011-01-20T13:11:48.756-08:00Sea of Seychelles.I spent two hours yesterday at the KNOW?SHOW with my team at cut & SHOW, saying hello to industry pals and checking out what the brands, reps and distribution companies had for Fall 2011.

My girl Mir owns an agency called Brunette Showroom, representing brands like Sienna Ray hangbags, Lisbeth Jewelry (her sister Sophie's line), BC Footwear, QSW (Quiksilver's higher-end women's collection) and Seychelles Footwear.

Oh my.

Seychelles' offerings for the fall season are on par with what Sam Edelman used to be, before the Edelman's prices went up (I do love the SE brand, though).

A lot of new Seychelles styles would certainly catch the eyes of a discerning fashion set, whereas before, I don't think they would. There were platforms, more architectural heels, wedges and more pleasing color ways and patterns.

She sells Seychelles by the sea shore.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0nh9NX7wvEgMZzA6MlYxdO8tzuychv_bCeElUAUr372lG1tmgJEZHLK2XpWC4xn_EWOcvfnVM-Xujqx-RKYw5_Jsvr2T9rxsELp7XCTGjdYdYYUUCu5IL12U88ufx4iHLkbYm/s320/photo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564374736291861298" />

I'm Lovin' it: Think I might be inheriting an SLR camera from Jenks. Perhaps it's the same with font.

Or perhaps I just think that because I'm a writer.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 237px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAUqDWY51BRlz6Q8QDDK_oImnFEsGUzC2QCOUTLlvXY5aHDK8qsM0fXhieOZxekJ51GDS5YTYW-YTPwJzy1ALSUVvJ-eOlTVJ-hQ3fj43jKWl9qZGOzz3HuRAo41hcq07cdMkt/s320/wedding+cd+favors.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5563997173414263170" />

* Photo property of greenshoeswedding.comHaute Hippiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16371676204711513721noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15937142.post-29652644532657241262011-01-16T15:46:00.001-08:002011-01-16T15:47:25.258-08:00Empire State of Mind.Stunning timelapse video of New York, New York. It's 2011.I recently did a Sweetspot city editor post on some city-centric New Year's resolutions, as opposed to me-centric ones like the year before.

In the post, I talked about how I always seem to be debating with friends, just before New Year's Day comes, on the merits of writing resolutions. Half my pals think it's hogwash, the other half thinks it's good for the mind and soul.

I, for the record, agree with the latter. Resolutions and I are quite good friends, and we enjoy each other's company at the beginning of each 365 day round.

People tend to prattle off the usual, like losing weight, reading more, drinking less. This year, my good friend @vlitwin gave me his resolutions in themes instead of points, a refreshing and succinct way of looking at them.

He had three: Reset. Joy. Attention.

This exchange, of course, got me thinking of mine in themes, and I've decided on a few: Activation. Follow Through. Fulfillment. Charity. Journey.

And that's what's so beautiful about a brand new year, that chance to rethink (or add more) themes to your life. Never is a second of your existence the same as the last or will it be the same as the next. I suppose that's why they tell you to make each moment count.

To everyone out there, here's to amazing year of new themes and precious moments.

And to making every second count, of course.

Besos,
Haute Hippie

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwm7a37rcRGhTclcVBe0Cx4AlosznQuVFVJQSZzluq_fIPgJ9FBCJ78klMn8pBILClLc6V9asR_rnReQH3RKo6PRloY3kpYXaStomIJywC8R_80qyGCdOoFACDABkxAaF2NP9l/s320/download-5.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559145700621513090" />

* Photo property of May Globus and is used solely for commentary purposesHaute Hippiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16371676204711513721noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15937142.post-56865964127368791952010-12-26T19:24:00.001-08:002010-12-26T19:51:03.904-08:00Merry Post-Christmas!I've spent the last seven days at home in California, hanging out with my parents and basically being off the grid, save for a few Facebook check-ins periodically throughout the day.

I can't remember the last time I've spent this much time away from my computer, but for me, it's a lot of time—and also welcome, at that.

Looks like I CAN survive not being plugged in 24/7!

In my time away from the keyboard, I've managed to eat my face off (an immediate diet is imminent upon homecoming on the 29th), watch tons of NFL with my parents, sing karaoke with my family on Christmas Day (Kenny Rogers' "You Decorated My Life" was a surprising hit) and spend less than $100 on six new items for my closet (a royal blue blouse, a jade geode necklace, a gold Rubix cube necklace, a brown cape sweater and a black blazer with extra large, exaggerated pockets and gray sleeves).

Oh yes, then there are these amazing Dolce Vita for Target boots, too, bought for $24.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOeqZOR3LWIn0WAhZE_Qy34iHU6SNgm5Q_Q1OIBs77WQVJBQ5wcxl5YWY6qxyS1EjE4gQdkWGc0P-c5fG2cFuweAW6_XtKKwrT7ijmmHAu-oihimF3cAxYOgqxjNglyte_nsKP/s320/IMG_3113.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555201173819763106" />

The only thing that escaped my sartorial grasp was a New Year's Eve dress. That remains yet to be bought, though I have no problem recycling my outfit from last year (made different with new shoes and jewellery). I expect to see a few Lanvin for H&M dresses to make NYE appearances—I'm not one for rocking the same clothes as another, so I'm quite glad to have sat out on this H&M capsule collection madness.

It was fantastic being able to wear shorts in December, paired with tights naturally, but I don't expect to be able to rock this outfit again till spring.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 94px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizH9bcs5a6z_FSzAu8iqSuzRNNNdUggyshqtkW6l0P-f8lFfr5K88CwrhtI-65pmYC9M_FJUpw_k1WgffOTD2CrDZkvlvmgrq34bGoW4oiew9hOrd3YHnOOBzFWkm_oglYLjpt/s320/Picture+4.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555201852566809314" />

I'll surely be sad to be leaving this place in three days, through two stopovers before getting back to reality.

Until then, I'll be enjoying the below just a little bit longer.

Besos,
Haute Hippie

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhPHuKwsMJOeYu92A5Ld1oh_gWyI93VzhAeQhBgRbwayQCYcZhcoHRpjxNrpRjOW7x-gXJTaryjH0bc-aQJ_iTon_eoPYAhEsqZCTuORjy5G87GHM9RiHnpZGqy7yfE6CIGA0o/s320/IMG_3119.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555202654904609730" />

I'm Lovin' it: Suspenders haphazardly clipped to a blouse.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8J3HMEmvSanEvVEKys96eedO__AglWdyFZrl6c2IbfvEno5M3TXE95pmiwdigAW5rwrQgIzzGTM1FrJOQ-U-dd52Fy4SqhkVMtBzB5959KLwaEpryAxppLEhFV859wYgx2z2r/s320/Cwknd07.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555202916021353602" />

I'm Over it: I never get sick, but I've had a sore throat and runny nose since being here. Bravo, Christopher Bailey (and Glamour stylists).

Hmmmm, I take it all back.

Think I'm in totally in love with The Witherspoon.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4RwP-V-0ezGuyAASgv12BTU_-h3auTTCdpqOEvT0moh4_DyOkU78BSgm8cptgPWchg2F7thUSyfTn6AWYsGnkdkb9XLvng9ee6_DWu6FDcRFrV9J84AQBGGKRIg7PBKqldouh/s320/reese-witherspoon-1-300x400.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545511914490089698" />

* Photo property of people.com and is used solely for commentary purposesHaute Hippiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16371676204711513721noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15937142.post-32279198639724066302010-11-25T15:19:00.000-08:002010-11-25T16:46:58.150-08:00A Dapper Gent.Here's veteran NBC Nightly News anchor, Tom Brokaw, looking like a very, very dapper gent.

Let's list the multiple trends he's done good pulling off:

Bowtie.
Velvet.
Tone-on-tone (black, in this case).
Pocket square.

That's a worth reporting on.

Besos,
Haute Hippie

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh67ebeGMAkbG4VrdamFBVQdE83Ju02z2Inj1lovZaBdU-Gf-TPgegPCwzqJhQWuPC795Jjs7MxhBymO2Sh1vrRy1yB0BOLLT-FcyJMqlTXNYGVB8DzuozxFyNAsyxqA2_iEZnF/s320/03m.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5543649590351771426" />

I'm Lovin' it: Tumblr.
