The Tie That Binds

This one's for the boys.

The past few years have seen the relationship between fashion and architecture become even closer: the recent Skin + Bones exhibit at the MOCA in Los Angeles, Philippe Starck or Fabien Baron-designed anything and now these artsy-cool ties from Sovereign Beck.

Ryan Sovereign and William Beck (graduates from the Rhode Island School of Design with separate degrees in Architectural Design and Sculpture) travel among the Williamsburg, Brooklyn crowd and have come up with 100% silk ties that walk the line between the hip and the classic -- admittedly not the typical Williamsburg attire.

While the tie shapes are classic, the prints and designs are anything but -- making them wearably cool to all hipsters of the world. Choose from white doves in flight against diagonal green lines, spray paint-inspired patterns, horizontal stripes with pink tips, all-over leaf prints and even more to suit (no pun intended) your fancy.

Time to toss out your Mexx or Ralph Lauren and tie on a Soverign Beck instead.

I'm Lovin' it: The Style Spy, Vancouver's newest fashion source. Local chic-ette Sunny Shum is now a regular contributor, so look out for an upcoming feature on one of her favorite things: shoes. Sign up for the daily blasts and laugh at its up-front, irreverent narration. Check out the "Shop Talk" section to find out which shopper is in you. Cyndi once said girls just wanna have fun -- The Style Spy is super fun, indeed.

I'm Over it: How today's rain annihilated the chance of rekindling my regular walks along the beach while shooting the breeze with Tom Tom.

Artist of the Day: Garage/Two Step-er MJ Cole. He's influenced by a ton of other artists, a lot of them old school like Sting, Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock. His house tracks lay down the piano, trumpets and other instruments besides just electronics. Check out "Firin' Up" and "Watertight".
