That's So Phat
As you may know, the Big Apple is under siege by the showing of Fall 2007 collections at New York Fashion Week.
Everyone expects fun, glitz and glamour at this bi-annual event, and there's no one better to deliver all three at once but Ms. Kimora Lee Simmons with her Baby Phat label.
Her runway show was a mish-mash of Russian influences (furry hats and boots, brocade), 70s disco glam (gold, gold, gold), street-wear (intricately detailed hoodies for the fellas and bling), rock 'n' roll (skintight skinny pants, a la Mick Jagger) and My Fair Lady (dress suits, lace and velvet).
I'm sure one of the biggest -- and recurring -- negative critiques of the glamazon Baby Phat collection is that it suffers from fashionable ADD and lacks a coherent theme.
My verdict is, who cares? It's full of high-energy, sexy and show-stopping clothing that'll make anyone look and feel like a private yacht-cruising, Dom Perignon-drinking, Maserati-driving, million dollar estate-living, diamonds-are-a-girl's-best-friend-wearing jetsetter.
In short, you'll feel just like Kimora -- for a day.
Minus the political soapbox-spouting, yoga-loving Russell.
* This glittery mini is my absolute favorite by far!!
I'm Lovin' it: The big ole sale Guess is currently having across the board. Everything that's already been reduced is an additional 60% off. It's time to clear out all the winter items for spring -- meaning all fashionistas reap the wardrobe benefits.
I'm Over it: All the chocolate chip peanut butter cookies, crackers smothered in asiago artichoke dip, honey garlic wings, sausage rolls, chips and salsa, T&T fruit and whip cake, caramel Kisses and chocolate fondue I devoured -- along with everyone else -- at Saritz's little girls-only birthday bash. Thank god for the gym yesterday morning, but curse my bottomless appetite yesterday night.
Artist of the Day: By far, The Rapture. Aggs and I seriously rocked out to them while decorating for the night's birthday festivities. Unfortunately, The Rapture -- comprised of Gabriel Andruzzi, Luke Jenner, Vito Roccoforte and Mattie Safer -- is not making a stop here on their North American tour, opting to set sail for Europe and Australia instead. So for now, I'll just have to jam to them via iPod.
