Making His-Tory
I have the utmost respect for Tory Burch.
Yes, she can be classified as one of those PYT socialites, but she's not one that reached fame through getting photographed by Patrick McMullan, being featured in Vogue Magazine at least twice, getting draped in the latest haute couture as exposure for a major fashion house or attending every single high-society event in New York.
Burch climbed her way to the top by putting her patrician nose to the grindstone and actually working.
And now she's a brand unto herself.
Her Fall 2007 collection simply cannot compare to that of Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, Oscar de la Renta or Trovata. That's a given. But time and time again, Burch proves that her designs (and price points) are marketable -- and more importantly, wearable -- to the regular masses.
I still need to snap up a pair of her Reva ballerina flats. In every color, preferably.
